Yesterday I Saw a Lion Kiss a Dear

…don’t you dare let our best memories bring you sorrow
Yesterday I saw a lion kiss a deer
Turn the page, maybe we’ll find a brand new ending
Where we’re dancing in our tears…

Hello Dear Readers, I’m Finally Breaking The Silence On My Blog.

For such an occasion, nothing could be more absolutely fitting than to present one of the most beautiful songs and live recordings ever.

Gregg Alexander – Lost Stars (lyrics below)

The song ‘Lost Stars’ along with Gregg Alexander’s life, music, and career choices are so very close to my heart because of my own life experiences and due to my daily considerations about the state of things in our world, chiefly concerning the multitude of ‘lost stars’ which we are all either part of, or by the grace of God redeemed from. The concept of us all being stars/stardust, both in the spiritual sense as well as scientific, for indeed both are truly one in the same, is one I’ve passionately studied out and have written essays about; essays which I eagerly look forward to releasing as blog posts here in the near future.

This song is also so very close in poetic style and feeling (as are other songs by Gregg) to my own writings/songs that this song actually feels as if I wrote it.

Furthermore, due to circumstances leading to my fiance’ leaving me, I relate well to the lyrics expressed in the song about wanting to be seen for more than “just a boy caught up in dreams and fantasies” while “reaching out for someone I can’t see” as well as other such lines in the song as, “I’ll be damned, Cupid’s demanding back his arrow”, …Definitely, it’s the context of the whole song in which those lines lie coupled with my life struggles which give them heavier meaning far beyond the mere obvious sentiments of unrequited love. As a visionary and entrepreneur, my experience has been that finding a partner who will believe in me and my work is nothing short of a miracle! Well, I’ll save the details for my autobiography, but suffice it to say that I thought she was that miracle who could understand me and believe in me enough to brave the dark until we could enjoy the light at the end of the tunnel together.
But, no, she choose to ignore that ‘we are all lost stars searching for meaning’ while not believing me when I told her, “yesterday I saw a lion kiss a deer”.

And I thought I saw you out there crying
And I thought I heard you call my name
And I thought I heard you out there crying
But are we all lost stars trying to light up the dark?
Are we all lost stars trying to light up the dark?

My discovering this song while dealing with her leaving me is serendipitous enough to be sure, but even more so is the timing of the song’s release which also coincides with my relaunching of this site, since it also coincides with my success as an entrepreneur – ohh the wheels within the wheels…

After a 15-year hiatus away from publishing weekly/daily journal entries also known as ‘web logs’ or ‘weblogs’ (before the Pyra folks who started www.blogger.com coined the term ‘blogs‘; or at least commercialized and capitalized on it), I am finally breaking proscenium to lay bare bare my life, heart, and soul to the world again here on www.brentchristian.com in daily, or at least weekly updated journalistic form. Brace yourselves ~

After a 15-year long hiatus from the lime-light, Gregg emerged to bring attention to a John Carney film which he worked to write ‘Lost Stars’ specifically for. The film, originally titled Can a Song Save Your Life? and re-titled Begin Again for it’s theatrical release, tells a love story between working musicians and was written around the featured song ‘Lost Stars’ with both main characters Kiera Knightly and Adam Levine preforming versions of it…

Here is the 1st interview Gregg has given in 15 years:

Lost Stars (lyrics)

Please don’t see
Just a boy caught up in dreams and fantasies
Please see me
Reaching out for someone I can’t see

Take my hand, let’s see where we wake up tomorrow
Best laid plans sometimes are just a one night stand
I’ll be damned, Cupid’s demanding back his arrow
So let’s get drunk on our tears

And God, tell us the reason youth is wasted on the young
It’s hunting season and the lambs are on the run
Searching for meaning
But are we all lost stars trying to light up the dark?

Who are we?
Just a speck of dust within the galaxy?
Woe is me
If we’re not careful turns into reality

But don’t you dare let our best memories bring you sorrow
Yesterday I saw a lion kiss a deer
Turn the page, maybe we’ll find a brand new ending
Where we’re dancing in our tears

And God, tell us the reason youth is wasted on the young
It’s hunting season and the lambs are on the run
We’re searching for meaning
But are we all lost stars trying to light up the dark?
and I thought I saw you out there crying
and I thought I heard you call my name
and I thought I heard you out there crying
But just the same

And God, give us the reason youth is wasted on the young
It’s hunting season and this lamb is on the run
searching for meaning
But are we all lost stars trying to light up the dark?

And I thought I saw you out there crying
And I thought I heard you call my name
And I thought I heard you out there crying
But are we all lost stars trying to light up the dark?
Are we all lost stars trying to light up the dark?

It’s Raining, Again

Sponge – Rainin’ (Live)

Here it is again, that mystical rain! Coming right into my house now!!!

…happened just like this 3 years ago.

Then after being well watered, I grew.
I was clean, refreshed, and made holy for the journey ahead.

Took to the road in faith and was met with mercy and grace,
for signs, wonders, and miracles.

This time will be 100 fold increase.
It’s time for the ‘latter rain’… Tsunami Rain.

Last one, washing all things pure for the the End of This Age and the Beginning of a New One.

[Post Pending About My Road Trips…]

Work vs Wisdom in Desperate December

This past week’s rainy days here in Texas are reminiscent of my past life and struggles.

It’s desperate days like these of which the song and Official Video, ‘Work’ by Jars of Clay, so adequately convey the feelings of.

Working, striving, fighting just to breathe when everything in life seems to suffocate us, when we feel as though we are drowning… the times when we must be reminded that we are not alone.

Knowing that God will never let us down, that He is with us, eliminates all fear of drowning and allows us the sweet relief of finally letting go – which turns out to be the best thing we can ever do anyways!

For there is no fear, or failure, or the stress of our own works when we finally, as they say, “let go, and let God”. When we truly know that nothing can ever separate us from His love, there is truly nothing to fear because His love is forever so we who are in Him are also forever! All this drowning in retrospect to our new life in Christ is only a false illusion. For those who are in Christ, letting go is the only option! It is freedom! Living outside the matrix!!

As I was getting through these desperate December days, I found comfort in the following wise words of hope and encouragement from my awesome sister:

“Whatever your life experience appears to be, you have, at this moment, an opportunity to let go of personal striving and let God move in you and through you to fill every need.”

“No matter how great the gulf seems between you and the solution to your deepest desire, you can trust God …God never leaves a void. He will never desert you or forsake you, His own creation.”

“God’s presence of love and wisdom is ever nurturing your soul in its gradual unfolding of spiritual potential. God’s power is ever at work within every circumstance. “

“As you let go and trust God, everything is transformed- yes, everything- into a blessing. God continuously makes dark places light, rough places smooth, crooked places straight and empty places full. Full of His loving kindness and abundance of joy.” – Mary Kupferle

Thank God for Jesus’ redemptive power working through people like Mary, writing such inspiration, keeping us reminded to let Him do all the WORK.  ~ Go read her article in full here: http://www.workministry.com/

What can I give back to you, God, for the blessings you poured out on me??

I promise to give back to God all that He’s poured into me. All of my talents, all of my riches, all of my success, all of my heart… they are made by you and for you, Jesus. I will continually give myself to the lost, hurt, and dying world. Thank you for your perfect example of love, for being the first to give, for making me a new creature now reborn to live to give!

NOT a RockStaR anymore

brent rocks with Down in the Mouth

Performing at Redrum – Austin, TX

Yes, that was me… circa 2001-2005. I performed with Austin, TX based rock band Down in the Mouth which consisted of famed songwriter, guitarist, and lead singer Monte Peck, drummer Marshall Peck, and yours truly, Brent Christian, We featured an inconsistent revolving cast of bass players, notably… ‘Ex-bestfriend’ Jason Kupka, Derrick the drunk, James LeBlanc the mad scientist, and last but certianly not least, our pale-white rapper (not to be confused with ‘wigger’) and real life comic strip hero Sir Ted ‘teddy boy’ Moore.

We had a lot of fun making good and terrible music together. I love all my ex-bandmates/friends and despite all the drama it was, I miss meeting up with them at our old practice place (or at our various renegade spots where we would rendezvous), I miss entertaining on the stage (or at such venues as Austin’s Pizza), and I miss all the songs we played which came to mean a lot to me.
Thanks Captian Monte! *hat tip*

Monte’s latest creative compositions can now be heard through the musical entrouge known as ‘The Hanyaks

:::UPDATE:::
I still have a passion for creating/performing music. Over the years, I have built up a collection of songs and am looking forward to collaborating with others to properly record them. …all in good time my friends, *brent-time*

While I write songs of all types and about many things, I believe music should ultimately be used to glorify God, for communicating our love to Him, for receiving & sending out divine prophecies and revelations of Him, and for bringing Heaven to earth.
